Frequently Asked Questions
Are the type sets Photoshop images or keyable fonts?
The type sets and DVDs are transparent Photoshop images to be placed and manipulated in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or the equivalent graphic design software. They will not install as a font. It’s really all about TEXTURES. Digital fonts won’t provide the subtle gradations that the images will show. That’s why fonts always look computer generated.
I want to order your product today. How fast can I receive it?
All of our products are available as digital downloads from the website. Once your order is placed, you will receive a receipt via email with an expiring link that allows you to download the type sets.
Are the products available for resale?
The initial user license does not permit our type sets to be used on products for resale. For example, type sets may be used on packaging for other products, advertising and posters for theatrical events, but they may not be made without our consent into posters, T-shirts, books, etc. that are for sale. To do so requires an additional licensing fee based on the production scale of the items. These fees are really quite reasonable, so please call our customer service representative Andy at 1.510.479.1051 for more information.
What is the fastest way to use SketchType™?
The fastest way to use SketchType™ is to lay out designs in InDesign, which lets you place the type set psd file in its native format, leaving the transparency intact. Illustrator tends to get bogged down, and Photoshop is not quite as fast, but produces the best results.
See the Video Tutorials section for visual aids.
What size and resolution is SketchType™?
Characters vary from 2 to 10 inches in height at 300 dpi. For larger uses, Alien Skin Blow Up will increase the image files with almost no loss in quality.
How do I change the color of SketchType™ type sets?
There is an excellent tutorial for changing the color of type sets here in the Video Tutorials section of the website.
I don't have photoshop or indesign, can I still use your type?
There are a number of photoshop-like software options that are free to download and use. Simply google "free photoshop-like software" and you'll have definitely have some more options to choose from.
